Arrow Add-ons → Things to Buff a Ranged Weapon

Hi, sorry about the long wait in between updates (couldn’t be helped).

Fletching of Daggers.

This Item is put on an arrow when the arrow is first created and takes the place of normal fletching (feathers). This fletching has an enchantment placed upon it so that on impact the fletching will turn into 3 blades the size of small daggers and impact on the enemy causing 3d4 damage. The daggers will only hit an enemy if the arrow strikes the enemy and the daggers are treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. an arrow using this fletching can only be used once then the spell is gone and the arrow is rendured useless. It cost an extra 50 gold per arrow for this modifacation. (note: this can be done to a crossbow bolt too).

The Armor-piercing Arrowhead.

This is a special arrow head that is heavier than a normal arrow and packs more punch. This arrow head gets an extra +4 to hit bonus against armored foes and does an extra +4 damage against unarmored foes. This arrowhead has a 50% chance to break if it misses because it falls at a high speed. This arrowhead cost 50 gold more per arrow to put on the arrow. also one last thing this arrow head lowers the effective range of the ranged weapon by 10 feet. (note: this can be used on either arrows or bolts).

  1. This post is so beautiful it made me cry…

Great job Mike! I would add those in my game without the need for any changes!

  2. the deadly bolts of doom!
    beware. or shafts…

    what ever term to use.
but these seem rather balanced. granted I haven’t played a tabletop with a ranged character.

  3. I’m sure the wait could have been helped…

Either way, I think these are good ideas, they just need a little adjusting. Magic arrows and non-magical arrows shouldn’t cost the same, and the prices are a little steep (amunition is usually priced in batches of 20) I also think the dagger fletchings should do a little less damage, because it would be hard to fit three whole daggers onto just one arrow/bolt shaft.

  4. I do agree with Dom.

Also, Dom. About that post. All 3 of my Editors posted FINALLY… too bad it was all on the same day. I’m saving your post for tomorrow, ok? Thanks! It’s a good one, by the way.

  5. the fletching turns into the daggers to correct that misunderstanding

  6. so It’s magical mini fletching that on contact rapidly expands and becomes really really pointy?

    Ker triple stabby stab stab.

  7. Yeah the feathers turn into daggers. Magical daggers, for the purpose of determining damage reduction.

  8. You should also specify what you need to make he arrows yourself. There needs to be a specified spell, feat (probably Craft Magic Arms and Armor), and caster level.

I also noticed that you haven’t changed the prices yet…

  9. I don’t think Mike bothers to come here all that often like we do…

  10. Zj4F7m hi good site thx http://peace.com
